Set in the sparse Highlands, this self-service hostel is just 5.5 km from Gullfoss Waterfall. It offers facilities for both riders and horses. WiFi and parking are free.

At Gljásteinn Skálinn Hostel, guests can choose between private rooms with shared bathrooms or beds in dormitory rooms. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious common dining room. BBQ facilities are also available for guests’ use.

Hiking and horse riding trails to Geysir hot spring, Haukadalur Forest and Gullfoss Waterfall start outside the hostel. Icelandic horses are for hire in nearby Myrkholt. Gljásteinn Skálinn also sells hay for horses.

The nearest grocery store is 24 km from Skálinn and restaurants are found at Geysir, 4 km from the property. Please inform Skálinn between Gullfoss and Geysir - Myrkholt Farm in advance of your expected arrival time. Bed linen and towels are not included.

Please note that you have to bring your own pillows, duvets or sleeping bags. These cannot be rented on site.
